COVID-19 Schedule & Service Changes for 495/MetroWest Regional Transit Authorities

Though unnecessary travel is discouraged at this time, many essential workers continue to rely on public transit to access vital places of work. Below please find the most current schedule and service change information as published by the RTAs serving the 495/MetroWest region. MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA)

Effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020 the MWRTA will be reducing Fixed Route service in an effort to promote safety to all drivers and passengers. Please see below the times listed that each bus route will be operating.

• Route 1: 5:30 AM – 5:43 PM (express to Hub from Natick Mall)

• Route 2: 6:30 AM – 5:46 PM (express to Hub from Banana Lot)

• Route 3: 6:15 AM – 5:33 PM (express to Hub from Banana Lot)

• Route 4 North: 7:05 AM – 6:00 PM

• Route 4 South: 6:10 AM – 6:45 PM

• Route 5: 5:30 AM – 5:55 PM

• Route 6: 5:51 AM – 5:56 PM

• Route 6: 5:51 AM – 5:56 PM

• Route 7 A: 6:15 AM – 6:13 PM (express to Hub from Banana Lot)

• Route 7B: 5:30 AM – 5:23 PM (express to Hub from Banana Lot)

• Route 7C: 7:21 AM – 5:43 PM (express to Hub from Apex Center).

• The 7C will NOT be servicing the Solomon Pond Mall until further notice.

• Route 8: 6:20 AM – 10:25 AM // 3:10 PM – 6:20 PM (express back to the Hub from the Natick COA). There will be NO mid-day service on the Route 8.

• Route 9: 5:46 AM – 6:25 PM (express to Hub from Natick Mall).

• Route 10: 6:25 AM – 5:22 PM

• Route 11: 6:30 AM – 5:25 PM

• Route 14: 6:30 AM – 5:09 PM (express to Hub from Milford Crossings)

• Route 15: 6:30 AM – 5:21 PM (express to Hub from Newton/Weed Streets)

The following routes will each experience specific frequency changes (please click each for details):

• Route 9

Finally, the Route 20 Shuttle will eliminate the last run of the morning shift, and the last 2 runs of the evening shift. The evening run will be modified to accommodate riders as much as possible; please click here for the full Route 20 Shuttle schedule

Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA)

Effective April 1, all passengers will board and exit through the rear door; front door boarding will remain available for those with accessibility needs. The WRTA will also suspend enforcement of fare policy during this time. These changes will be in effect for 30 days, at which point they will be reviewed. 

Effective March 25, 2020 all routes will run on a Saturday schedule, with the following exceptions that will continue to run on a regular weekday schedule:

• Route 29

• Route 42

• Community Shuttles

Further, the following routes will run on a Modified Saturday Schedule (details here):

• Route 30

The following route will run on a Modified Weekday Schedule (details here):

Route 33

On Saturday and Sunday, all routes will operate on a Sunday Schedule

Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA)

GATRA has put in place a "Fare Optional" policy.

Effective March 23, 2020 until further notice:

The Franklin Area Bus (FAB) and the Tri-Town Connector will be suspended. All Foxborough, Franklin, Norfolk & Wrentham residents will be able to use the Dial A Ride Service for critical transportation needs. The Reservation service hours will be Mon-Fri 8-4, to make a reservation call 800-698-7676.

• The Foxboro Commuter Shuttle will be suspended

• The Route 140 Bus will be running on a Summer Schedule.

• The Pembroke Shuttle will be suspended

• The Boston Hospital Bus will be suspended

• The Scituate Sloop will operate Mon-Fri only from 9:30 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

• The Wareham to Plymouth Connection will be suspended.

Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART)

During the period March 24 through April 7, MART will institute a free fare on all MART transit services to limit contact with drivers and farebox surfaces. All passengers, except those needing a ramp deployed, will enter and exit the bus using the rear door. 

The following MART services are operating on a limited schedule (click each link for details):

• Devens Regional Bus

The following MART services are temporarily suspended:

• Route 11

• Intercity/MWCC Regional Bus

• Littleton-Westford Regional Bus

• Additional Supplemental Buses

• Out of Town Shuttles (Boston and Worcester)

Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA)

The LRTA is providing transit for essential trips only; all riders must be traveling to or from an essential destination. For the full announcement, visit this link

CrossTown Connect (Acton, Littleton, Maynard, Westford)

Acton: Services are operating and available in Acton for those who need them. During this time:

• No fares will be collected and no passes will be sold. 

• Only 2 passengers will be scheduled on the bus at a time.

Littleton, Westford: All Littleton COA vehicles have been suspended until further notice; the Littleton-Westford Commuter Shuttle has been suspended until further notice.


• The Maynard COA vehicle is operating on a limited basis for necessary trips, and working with riders to find alternate options if at all possible. 

• The Maynard-Acton Commuter Shuttle has been suspended until further notice. If you require transportation between Maynard and South Acton Station please contact the Town of Maynard or [email protected] and they will assess whether service can be provided.
